Ok, seriously, you guys, the Japanese are up to something over there. I'm not sure what the hell it is, but they sure as hell have been making some great movies.

Casshern is one of these. It's kind of a sci-fi / superhero / action movie; crosses a couple of genres.

I will be the first to admit that the story is a little goofy; this maybe results from making a movie from manga comics; maybe even the Japanese can't manage really great comic book movies.

But the thing with Casshern is that even if the story is a little bit goofy, you just don't care. The look of this movie is utterly striking, and the effects - while obviously not on Hollywood budgeting - are sufficiently unique looking that they pack a hell of a punch.

This movie will blow you away if you like superhero movies; if you're not a fan of that kind of thing, it's still worth checking out just for the sheer artistry of the visuals.

I looked for a trailer for the movie, but all the trailers I found on YouTube were poorly encoded and too dark to really see the action, so I will substitute this pretty kickass fan-made music video, set to the music of Sevendust.
