It IS About The Money, Right? Isn't It?

So, the government took over Chrysler.

Chucked it into receivership.

Parceled off part ownership - 17.6%, actually - to the United Auto Workers.

Forced by costs, they're closing dealerships left and right.

...Of course, as the costs are paramount, they will of course be throwing away the dealerships losing money, the dealerships with the highest costs, the dealerships with the worst track record, right?

Wrong.

In fact, the criterion they're using to determine which dealerships to throw away is far simpler, and more disturbing.

They're eliminating dealerships based on party affiliation.

Think I'm kidding?

I never kid. Of the Chrysler dealerships being liquidated, it breaks down as follows.

Of the Chrysler dealerships that gave political contributions recently, 90% of the ones getting closed gave to Republican causes, charities, or candidates. Only 10% of the dealerships getting closed donated to Democrats or their causes. Only TWO dealers on the closure list was an Obama contributor, and they only contributed $200 and $250.

One of the dealerships getting axed belongs to a Republican Congressman - and has sold TWICE the dealer average for Chrysler every year. The GOP contributors are a long list.

Politicians meddling in business is bad enough.

Parceling out business to "acceptable" people based on political connections is Soviet-era communism. "Join the Party, komrade, or bad things happen to you."

Now we're forcibly eliminating economic competition based on political consideration; how long until the opposition goes in the gulag, instead of the poor house, hmmm?

New Zealand is getting more and more attractive.
